Drug summit in Port Macquarie(letter)

by Margaret McKay

News Weekly, June 15, 2002

Do you know of someone who is taking drugs? Do you despair about the trauma caused to parents and siblings because of this behaviour? Do you despair about the hopelessness of the situation and the lack of help to "do something"?

Well if you answered "yes" to any of these questions, maybe we in Port Macquarie can help you.

During June 24-30, Port Macquarie will be holding it's fifth Annual Drug Awareness Week. On June 28-29 we are holding our second Annual Drug Summit which we encourage as many as possible to attend.

We have at least 12 famous celebrities coming including Sonya Kruger, Jessica Rowe, Susie Elelman, and Scott Cain.

One of our guest speakers is Marie Byrne from Ireland. Ireland has of late had a huge drug problem because of the easy availability of drugs, the massive economic growth and government policies of Harm Minimisation.
