UNITED STATES:
Media ignore trial of abortionist who beheaded newborn infants

by Bill Muehlenberg

News Weekly, April 27, 2013

The trial of Philadelphia doctor, Dr Kermit Gosnell, for killing live babies ought to be one of the most spectacular news items to break in the U.S. recently.

Yet almost no one knows about it, because the mainstream media has once again been doing its job — of censoring news and covering up important stories.

An American pro-life poster protesting at the

media black-out of the Kermit Gosnell trial.

This huge story has been almost completely ignored by the pro-abortion media. However, every media outlet in the U.S. is covering another pressing news item: the weight gain recently experienced by pregnant American socialite and television personality, Kim Kardashian. Go figure.

For those unaware — because of the mainstream media blackout — Dr Gosnell is an infamous baby-killer who is on trial right now, and the revelations about his house of horrors keep getting worse with each passing day. Although the trial began in Philadelphia back on March 18, very little has been heard about it, even though he is accused of killing seven babies who survived abortions.

As one American editorial writer said, “A basketball coach who shoves and curses at his players merits constant coverage by a media also transfixed by Newtown. But a Philadelphia doctor on trial for murdering a woman and seven babies? It’s ignored.

“Those who get their news from the three major networks have probably not heard of Dr Kermit Gosnell, now on trial in Philadelphia, charged with seven counts of first-degree murder and one count of third-degree murder for killing seven babies who survived abortions and a woman who died after a botched pain-killer injection.

“Everybody has heard of Mike Rice, the disgraced former Rutgers basketball coach who was fired after video surfaced of him shoving, kicking and yelling at his players, throwing basketballs at them and — most damning — using ‘homophobic slurs’.

“According to the Media Research Center, in one week Rice received 41 minutes, 26 seconds of air time on ABC, CBS and NBC in 36 separate news stories. Gosnell received zero coverage….

“Kermit Gosnell faces 43 criminal counts, including eight counts of murder in the death of one patient, Karnamaya Monger, and seven newborn infants. Additional charges include conspiracy, drug delivery resulting in death, infanticide, corruption of minors, evidence tampering, theft by deception, abuse of corpse and corruption.

“Gosnell’s clinic was inspected only after a federal drug raid in 2010. It was the first time the facility had been inspected in 17 years because state officials ignored complaints and failed to visit Gosnell’s Women’s Medical Society, the clinic’s official name, for years.” (Investor’s Business Daily, April 10, 2013).

In a very rare exception, USA Today did run a story on this on April 11, in which columnist Kirsten Powers wrote in part: “Infant beheadings. Severed baby feet in jars. A child screaming after it was delivered alive during an abortion procedure. Haven’t heard about these sickening accusations?

“It’s not your fault. Since the murder trial of Pennsylvania abortion doctor Kermit Gosnell began March 18, there has been precious little coverage of the case that should be on every news show and front page. The revolting revelations of Gosnell’s former staff, who have been testifying to what they witnessed and did during late-term abortions, should shock anyone with a heart.

“NBC-10 Philadelphia reported that Stephen Massof, a former Gosnell worker, described how he snipped the spinal cords of babies, calling it, ‘literally a beheading. It is separating the brain from the body’. One former worker, Adrienne Moton, testified that Gosnell taught her his ‘snipping’ technique to use on infants born alive.

“Massof, who, like other witnesses, has himself pleaded guilty to serious crimes, testified ‘It would rain fetuses. Fetuses and blood all over the place’. Here is the headline the Associated Press put on a story about his testimony that he saw 100 babies born and then snipped: ‘Staffer describes chaos at PA abortion clinic.’

“ ‘Chaos’ isn’t really the story here. Butchering babies that were already born and were older than the state’s 24-week limit for abortions is the story. There is a reason the late Democratic senator Daniel Patrick Moynihan called this procedure infanticide.” (USA Today, April 11, 2013).

Commentators have been writing about this regularly in the alternative media. John Jalsevac recently reported: “‘If Dr Gosnell had walked into a nursery and shot seven infants with an AR-15, it would be national news and the subject of presidential hand-wringing.’ That was the challenging observation made this morning by Rep. Chris Smith, Republican (New Jersey), on the floor of the U.S. House of Representatives.

“Because Kermit Gosnell instead allegedly snipped the spinal cords of seven newborn babies in a building called an abortion clinic, the national media has almost uniformly ignored the case, said Smith, something that he charged amounted to a deliberate ‘cover-up’.”

Smith asked: “Will the decades-long major national news media cover-up of the brutality — and violence — of abortion methods ever end?

“Will Americans ever be told the horrifying details as to how — and how often — abortionists dismember, decapitate and chemically poison innocent babies?

“Will Americans ever be informed by a conscientious, unbiased news media that in the past 40 years, over 55 million child victims have been brutally killed by abortion — a staggering loss of children’s lives that equates to the entire population in England? And that many women have been hurt physically, emotionally, psychologically — and according to the Center for Disease Control over 400 women have actually died from legal abortions.

“Will Americans ever be told that, of the 55 million children, Planned Parenthood alone claims responsibility for destroying over 6 million babies, and that just two weeks ago a Planned Parenthood leader in Florida testified, at a legislative hearing on a state initiative to protect born-alive infants, that even when a child survives an abortion, the decision to assist or kill the born-alive infant should be ‘up to the woman, her family and her physician’.

“In other words, even if a child intended to be aborted survives the assault, the choice to kill remains — so called after birth abortion. Isn’t that extreme child abuse?

“Murdering newborns in the abortion clinic, it seems to me, is indistinguishable from any other child predator wielding a knife or a gun. Why isn’t that child seen as a patient in need of medical care, warmth, nutrition and dare I say — love?” (LifeSiteNews.com, April 11, 2013).

Former nurse Jill Stanek wrote, “The reason the media and pro-abortion politicians are ignoring Gosnell’s trial is because Gosnell was an abortionist. Seven of his victims were killed after they had been aborted, and one died after she had aborted. Why would people who believe in legalised abortion want to shed negative light on bad things that happen during legalised abortions?

“Truth be told, I don’t think these people consider abortion survivors as real people — or Gosnell a mass murderer. Calling Gosnell a ‘mass murderer’ for completing abortions outside the uterus brings them too close to pro-lifers who call abortionists mass murderers for completing abortions just a few inches the other way.” (Jill Stanek blog, April 11, 2013).

Finally, the Canadian-born conservative commentator Mark Steyn asked: “So how many dead American babies does it take to make the news? I wrote two-and-a-half weeks ago about the U.S. media’s determination to ignore a story that’s inconvenient to their biases. But, given the gun-banners’ ceaseless grief-feasting on Sandy Hook, at some point doesn’t the corpse count in Philadelphia merit maybe, oh, a thousandth of the attention?…

“So… if a baby screams during an outside-the-uterus ‘abortion’, does it make a sound? Or, to put it another way, if an abortionist goes on trial for murdering infants, but the media refuses to cover it, is it really happening?

“The U.S. media’s unanimous agreement to see no evil is sick and totalitarian. A very small consolation is that, with news judgments like these, the wretched American press is doing a pretty good job of sawing through its own neck.” (National Review, April 9, 2013).

This media blackout is a perfect example of why the alternative media exists, and why my own blog CultureWatch operates 24/7. The ‘lamestream media’ are not reporting the news — they are involved in manufacturing secular left propaganda. So if people want to hear the truth, they must rely on the alternative media.

Truth desperately needs to get out into the public arena. I will keep doing that until they jail me, shut down my site, or death overtakes me.
