Annual abortion tally (letter)

by Paul Sheeran

News Weekly, September 4, 2010
Sir,

Further to John Young's letter, "Accessories to murder" (News Weekly, August 7, 2010), I believe the figure for abortion in Australia is closer to 100,000 each year.

Considering that such is the case, this means that every 10 to 12 years we destroy up to a million Australians. So, if we just take the period 1970 to 2010, we will have eliminated up to four million of our population.

Now, just think that quite a number of those Australians lost to us - and adding to that figure those who could have been born to them - would now be in the workforce doing great things for our economy, helping to sustain our elderly, paying taxes, and creating businesses to meet demand for services, etc.

It makes one wonder about politicians making silly statements about population growth when we have a legal (God help us!) existing policy to kill off up to 100,000 children every year.

Never mind, by 2020 we will have eliminated, another million Australians.

Quo vadis, dear Australia of the "fair go"?

Paul Sheeran,
Green Point, NSW
