Contrary to Patrick J. Byrne's claim in his article (News Weekly
, February 5), the Wayne Goss Labor Government never attempted to build the Wolfdene Dam south of Brisbane.
All the ground work and expenditure of a few million dollars had already been completed by the previous National Party Government.
When Labor won the election, they scrapped the dam project for political reasons after a strong campaign was launched by the people whose properties had been resumed.
This is not a criticism of Mr Byrne's article, as I totally concur with the opinions in the articles that News Weekly
