Statesmanship needed (letter)
by Landon BurchNews Weekly, November 28, 2009
Sir,
After reading Bill Muehlenberg's review of Christopher Caldwell's book
Reflections on the Revolution in Europe: Immigration, Islam and the West (News Weekly, October 31), I am more than ever convinced that the West, having reached and passed its peak, has become uninspired, apathetic and gullible.
As such, it has allowed its countries to become overwhelmed by unarmed invasions by backward and alien cultures which demand social benefits and separate rights.
If Western civilisation is to be saved, it desperately needs a leader with the power of oratory of a Churchill or Menzies to lead us out of the depths of social, moral and cultural decay to which we have sunk - just the sorts of things that incite Muslim extremists to commit the inhuman atrocities that they do.
