Affordable housing (letter)

by Rosanne Turner

News Weekly, December 9, 2006

Sir,

Thank you to Bob Day for a most informative article on the housing industry (News Weekly, October 14, 2006). As a child, I enjoyed listening to various relatives relate how they bought land, married and proceeded to build their home, while living in a garage or caravan.

This attitude appears to have died, not with the contraceptive pill in the 1960s, but with the promotion of feminism at the time of the UN International Women's Year.

Today, a very young woman who is pregnant is accused of wanting the $3,000 Baby Payment; she is accused of adding another child to a worn-out environment. Perhaps Bob Day could address the problem of how the general public came to be so easily brainwashed by an obviously biased media.

the thinker in the family.
