Revenue-raising stunt (letter)by M.MitchellNews Weekly

We live in east Gippsland, which has much less rain than Melbourne. Our only domestic water is rain collected from the roof and stored in a concrete tank approximately 6m in diameter and 2m high.
We live normally but do not water the garden. Even in the bad year of 1996, our tank was still half full. Mostly it is well filled and so overflows on a wet day. Doubtless it could serve two households at a pinch.
So what price the water scare in Melbourne? Could it be that government is up to some revenue-raising stunt? Better that they encourage rain tanks for every suitable house.M.Mitchell,
