No mandate for Howard Government (letter)

by M. Mitchell

News Weekly, November 20, 2004
Sir,

Regarding "Labor in shock after its disastrous rout" (Canberra Observed, News Weekly, November 6), I can assure you that I have not "embraced the Howard Government". I voted Liberal as being the lesser of two evils.

As for all the talk about mandates, there are none until the people are asked via referendum. It's called democracy.

M. Mitchell,
Bairnsdale, Vic
